 About the Business
Rebecca's Soap Delicatessen is a small indie business located in the heart of the Roanoke Valley. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Rebecca's handmade soap shop currently sells a line of naturally crafted, handmade shea butter soaps, lotions, lip balms and solid sugar scrub cubes. Rebecca's product focus is on creating the finest quality products with simple, all natural ingredients proven to be beneficial in skin care. Some of her favorite ingredients include shea butter, cocoa butter, and olive oil. Rebecca's handmade shea butter soaps are made in small batches from scratch using the cold process soapmaking method to ensure that only the best ingredients come into contact with your skin.
Established in 2001, Rebecca's Soap Delicatessen is a one woman operation, owned and run by Rebecca D. Dillon. Rebecca started her small indie business shortly after she began making handmade, shea butter soaps as an alternative to commercial soaps that often dried out her sensitive skin. Having always been crafty and never without paper, crayons, tape and scissors on hand as a child, Rebecca went on in her adult years to obtain a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Roanoke College. While there she studied a bit of everything including photography, screen printing, graphic design, pottery, 3-D design, drawing, painting, art history, poetry and even writing. Rebecca is currently a single mother of a ridiculously awesome teenage son and enjoys reading, shopping, listening to local bands live, the occasional karaoke and, of course, making handmade soap.
Why handmade soap?
Handmade soap is gentler because it's made with natural ingredients, not synthetic ingredients whose sole purpose is to create a foam or lather. Because of this many individuals who can't use commercial soap, can use handmade soaps. Worried about the lather in handmade soap? There's no worry. All of Rebecca's soaps use specific oils known for their properties in soapmaking to create a wonderfully rich lather while being gentle on your skin.
